NYCRAA Lobby Day..."Under One Roof" We Need You!!!

All NYCRAA members and colleagues are invited and encouraged to attend our legislative lobby day on Monday, January 13, starting at 10:30AM at “The Well” - Legislative Office Building, Albany, NY. We are excited for this opportunity to let our voices be heard and contribute to our industry’s advocacy efforts. This year, our lobby efforts will focus on our newly formed coalition’s mission “Under One Roof”.

Under One Roof supports New Yorkers living in rental apartments and those who own and operate them. The coalition works to protect New Yorkers' access to quality housing, increase the economic impact of rental properties and foster growth in the rental housing industry statewide. We can accomplish this together.

The Housing Stability and Tenant Protection Act of 2019 was promoted as a way to protect tenants, but in reality, this law created unintended consequences for both landlords and tenants. It negatively impacted the way landlords do business and the quality of residence and affordability of housing options they can provide their tenants. The coalition is urging state lawmakers to amend the Housing Stability and Tenant Protection Act of 2019 in order to address these unintended consequences. These changes would protect tenants and landlords across the state, while also providing fair and reasonable regulations for the apartment rental industry that don’t place additional burdens on the business community and stifle regional economic development.

You will engage in the legislative process and build relationships with elected officials representing the various districts where your properties are located. You will also have the chance to educate legislators on issues of importance to our industry.

Please join us as we meet with our leaders and make YOUR voice heard in New York!
